BarChrome
Each number (0-9) that can occur on an automobile license plate is assigned a color. Note that using UHD or VHD symbology, letters can also be used. ![]() Numbers on each license plate are set against a backdrop of the assigned color in a contrasting color. ![]() Readability both by humans and through machines, as in the case of photographs of moving vehicles, is dramatically enhanced. Since we know the color scheme and spacing of each color field, we can read license plates with 100% precision even where the numbers are illegible, as depicted below. BarChrome remains legible when numerals are not, even when blurred and depicted at a stark angle.
