Controller equipped with a digital compass is mounted on or in the guitar. Controller senses numerical degree value.

Sensed compass degree value is converted to an effects level value and output to an effects unit.

When the guitarist wants to turn up the value, he turns his body in one direction. To turn down, he turns in the other direction. For instance, to pan to the left, he faces the guitar more to the left. To pan right, he faces toward the right. Alternate or additional sensors include accelerometer, distance meter, tilt sensor, pressure sensor, and GPS receiver.
